In the mountain city of Altera, the world’s conflicts are no longer settled on the battlefield, but at the Ascension Festival. Each year, the great factions gather in a shared belief: that ambition, ingenuity, and unity can shape a better future than war ever could. Altera is a vibrant euro-game featuring worker placement, dice bag-building, and special abilities that change each game. Across seven rounds of the annual Ascension Festival, players race to climb four tracks—earning rewards on the way up and scoring points if they claim first place after a round. But winning a track sends you back to the bottom, opening the door for others to rise. All players take turns simultaneously! Draw dice and roll them, plan your moves in secret, and resolve your workers. Strategize carefully to gain resources, craft artifacts, and curate your dice pool—adding, upgrading (or even shedding) dice across three colors featuring unique abilities. As you build your engine and outmaneuver rivals, will you earn the most prestige and ascend to the High Council? -description from designer
