From the publisher: The long awaited and anticipated release of GENERAL QUARTERS 3rd EDITION coincides with the 30th anniversary of the publication of the original GENERAL QUARTERS. Author Lonnie L. Gill has held fast to two key design parameters — accuracy and playability — so the new GQIII keeps the ease of play associated with its predecessors. Also retained is the familiar armor system, and the well-designed data charts containing all the info you need to play. But 30 years of research and development has yielded new and revised rules “firmly welded to the General Quarters keel.” A sampling: * “No-odds” gunnery system using locational hits * Variable hull boxes to reflect flotation and tonnage differences * Over 590 ships and 90+ aircraft on ready-to-use logs and formation cards * Detailed air operations, with extensive antiaircraft and radar data * Accurate and playable submarine and ASW combat rules * Realistic torpedo firing without time-consuming bookkeeping * Nationality-specific tables encompassing gunnery, damage control, sighting, and more! Additional rules include: campaigns with optional simplified air and sub operations; weather; logistics; amphibious operations; mine-laying and -sweeping; shore bombardment; and much, much more. With detailed “Now Hear This” designer’s notes, and extensive website support and even more rules, data, and scenarios here at odgw.com, GQIII will be continually updated.
