Biohack is a board game released in 2024 for 1–4 players, 60–90 minutes per game, and ages 14 and up. It was designed by Yofiandhy D Indrayana and its main mechanics are Set Collection, End Game Bonuses, and Simultaneous Action Selection.
Dr. Johann Maischberger caused a stir in the scientific academia for playing god with his experiments. The young researchers involved in his experiments were all expelled from the academia due to this unethical work.vThis incident was known as the "Biohack Incident." And then, twenty years later. Dr. Maischberger's daughter is trying to bring back the experiment back to life once again. However, the blueprints left behind by her father were incomprehensible to ordinary people. Thus, they called upon the "mad scientists," namely those who were expelled from the academia. Biohack is a medium-complexity game where players will use workers called "Noman" to procure funds and DNAs, then create new creatures. The scientists, who are the players' avatars, have various abilities. In addition, the creatures created by the experiments will also bring various beneficial effects. The game ends after the designated number of rounds or if a player able to creates 7 creatures. The players will tally all of their Evaluation Points and the player who has the most Evaluation Points wins the game. -description from designer
Biohack supports 1–4 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Biohack is 60–90 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Biohack for ages 14 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Biohack has a complexity rating of 2.8 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a medium-light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
