Division: Throne Room is a board game released in 2020 for 1–2 players, 30–90 minutes per game, and ages 13 and up. It was designed by James Hitchings and its main mechanics are Dice Rolling and Pattern Building.
Division: Throne Room is a strategic card and dice game for 1 or 2 players. You'll recognise the King and his courtiers from chess. But this game is not fought on the battlefield. This is an internal fight for the throne. In the 2-Player game, you and your rival are competing to bribe, blackmail and bully the courtiers into a configuration that'll aide your own efforts to seize the throne. Completing all of your Palace Cards before your rival means you have successfully ousted the King and taken the throne for yourself. In the 1-Player game, you are playing against the Silent Hand. You won't see or hear from this shadowy syndicate, but they'll always be in the background, manipulating your resources and affecting your influence. This is represented by your limited dice rolls. —description from the designer
Division: Throne Room supports 1–2 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Division: Throne Room is 30–90 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Division: Throne Room for ages 13 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Division: Throne Room has a complexity rating of 1.0 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
