Gold am Orinoko is a board game released in 2013 for 2–4 players, 15–20 minutes per game, and ages 7 and up. It was designed by Bernhard Weber and its main mechanics are Dice Rolling.
Game description from the publisher: Gold fever at the Orinoco river! Deep in the heart of the jungle explorers have discovered the ruins of an ancient culture on the shores of this mysterious river. The brave teams of adventurers immediately set off from the legendary rocky knoll, Guarda – the guardian of the gold – in search of treasure amongst the ruins. The gold, however, lies on the other shore of the raging river, and the river can be crossed only by leaping from trunk to trunk, as the tree trunks float dangerously downstream. In Gold am Orinoko, the players need the right amount of luck and tactics to get their adventurers over the tree trunks to the other side of the river because, as they shift and jump over the tree trunks, they always have to keep an eye on the drifting trunks and the other players. The one who proves to be extremely brave and who brings his adventurers safely and surely across the Orinoco will be able to collect the most gold, thus winning the game.
Gold am Orinoko supports 2–4 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Gold am Orinoko is 15–20 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Gold am Orinoko for ages 7 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Gold am Orinoko has a complexity rating of 1.4 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
