Kojak Detective Game is a board game released in 1975 for 2–4 players, 30 minutes per game, and ages 8 and up. It was designed by Martin Earl and Steve Curtis (II) and its main mechanics are Roll / Spin and Move.
Kojak Detective Game has up to 4 detectives competing to make the most arrests in the Manhattan South precinct as they try to solve 4 crimes. A crude roll & move game has cars moving round the track, collecting Contact Cards, Trap Cards, Warrant Cards by making exact rolls onto certain squares. Get your assignment with a Contact Card, move a car into the right car park for surveillance, move the criminal into the red space using Trap Cards and book 'em Stavros. Who loves ya baby? Milton Bradley version: has up to 4 detectives trying to locate one suspect who is hiding in one of four color-coded 3D buildings on the board. They do this using roll and move (that doesn't require exact count) for their detective figure and police car, collecting information from informants who move in and out of the buildings on plastic turntables.
Kojak Detective Game supports 2–4 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Kojak Detective Game is 30 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Kojak Detective Game for ages 8 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone.
