Kung Fu 2100 is a board game released in 1980 for 1–2 players, 90 minutes per game, and ages 12 and up. It was designed by B. Dennis Sustare and its main mechanics are Variable Player Powers, Variable Set-up, and Square Grid.
From the publisher: "For years the CloneMasters have ruled the world. Their only foes are the Terminators -- Trained from birth in the martial arts. Now you are a Terminator. Your mission: smash your way into the CloneMaster's fortress...chop through his defenses...to destroy him forever. But his guards are many and loyal. Like you, they can kill with a single blow. And time is against you..." The situation is that a cloning expert bent on personal perpetuity has set up a lab defended by guards and martial artists. Meanwhile three fanatical kung fu experts are determined to break in and destroy the lab. Combat is largely deterministic, being mostly resolved by play of known combat chits. The listed playing time for Kung Fu 2100 is 90 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Kung Fu 2100 for ages 12 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Kung Fu 2100 has a complexity rating of 1.6 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
