MANTIS: Power Token is an expansion for Mantis released in 2023 for 2–6 players, 10 minutes per game, and ages 7 and up. It was designed by Ken Gruhl and Jeremy Posner.
To play with the Mantis Power Token, give it to the player on the right of the starting player, then follow these rules during the game: - If you begin your turn with the Power Token, take one additional turn to Steal or Score from any player at the end of your turn. - If you successfully steal card(s) from a player with the Power Token, you steal the Power Token as well! When you take the Power Token, immediately take one additional turn to Steal or Score from any player. - For a 2 player game, instead of using the “2 Player Game” rules in the Mantis instructions, use these rules and play to 15 points instead of 10.
MANTIS: Power Token supports 2–6 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for MANTIS: Power Token is 10 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists MANTIS: Power Token for ages 7 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
