När & Fjärran is a board game released in 2002 for 2–4 players, 60–120 minutes per game, and ages 13 and up. Its main mechanics are Roll / Spin and Move and Team-Based Game.
A trivia game with far countries and foreign cultures as a theme. By visiting different continents, you get questions to answer from each country. All correct answers give points in the form of "NF dollars". Many visits to a country gives you the possibility of gaining a lot of money through the "knowledge ladder" for each country, by answering all of the questions from a card. The money is then multiplied with the number of answered questions for the continent, so some tactics are involved in the game. There are also certain spaces which gives you possibility to answer questions about images, flags or capitals around the world. These answers give extra money. There is a time limit in the game so you only may answer a certain number of questions (right or wrong) for each continent. May also be played with 2-4 teams. The game is based on a Swedish travel reporting program and the title means "Near and Far".
När & Fjärran supports 2–4 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for När & Fjärran is 60–120 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists När & Fjärran for ages 13 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.

The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
