Snakes of Wrath is a board game released in 2022 for 2 players, 15–30 minutes per game, and ages 8 and up. It was designed by Dan Cassaro and its main mechanics are Hand Management, Tile Placement, and Team-Based Game.
In the world of Snakes of Wrath, two players or teams battle to build, and steal, the largest snakes. Traps are laid, enemies are flayed, and snakes are combined and captured as the tangled, hedonistic ouroboros grows. Will you build methodically or go on the offense by attacked your enemies and attempting a chain reaction steal. Each player has 7 randomly selected tiles with which they can: -Build a new snake from any open head -Grow an existing snake in their color -Injure an opponent's snake with an injury tile -Steal an opponent's snake by connecting to it Lay your tiles strategically, incapacitate your opponent, and close all ends of your snakes to emerge victorious. Players must plan ahead, guess their opponent's moves, and deploy tiles carefully. Two-sided tiles mean the tides can change at any moment with a sinister steal or a well-laid trap. One mistake and a chain reaction can be set off, flipping tiles in your opponents favor.
Snakes of Wrath supports 2 players according to the catalogue. This is the publisher’s listed player count, so the game is designed for exactly that number of participants. The listed playing time for Snakes of Wrath is 15–30 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Snakes of Wrath for ages 8 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
