Throne of the World is a board game released in 2014 for 2–4 players, 15 minutes per game, and ages 10 and up. It was designed by Zong-Ger(蔥哥) and its main mechanics are Variable Player Powers and Action Points.
In Throne of the World, each player represents one of the thirteen races struggling for that throne. Players play different kinds of profession cards that can either produce income or force other players to take their cards back into their hands. In each turn, players choose a playing mode that determines how many cards they draw and how many action points they get. Action points are used to play cards, either profession cards, action cards (which activate the profession cards), or special skill cards. The different races can also use their special abilities to tip the balance in their favor. Depending on the strategy a player chooses for a given turn, she gains a certain number of cards and action points. Action points are needed to play cards, either to let different profession enter the playing field, activate those already in the field, or use other abilities. Activated cards can earn money or attack other players. A player wins the game immediately by meeting one of the following victory conditions: Owning at least 45 Dollars. Owning at least three full sets of professions and having at least 15 Dollars. Owning units from all seven different professions and having at least 15 Dollars. Being the last player left in the game.
Throne of the World supports 2–4 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Throne of the World is 15 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Throne of the World for ages 10 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Throne of the World has a complexity rating of 2.0 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a medium-light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
