Valkyries is a board game released in 2024 for 2–4 players, 20 minutes per game, and ages 10 and up. It was designed by Paz Navarro Moreno and César Gómez Bernardino and its main mechanics are Variable Player Powers, Hand Management, and Variable Set-up.
About the game
Take on the role of four Valkyries who, tired of waiting for the last battle, the battle of the end times, have decided to take the lead and, supported by Freya, rush into battle to try to prevent Ragnarök itself. Face mighty wyrms, cunning dark elves, draugr risen from the depths of Hel, tough frost giants and fearsome fire demons. Defeat them and maybe you will win the favour of the gods and they will aid you in your quest. For Asgard! Valkyries is presented as a game book. Each chapter introduces new rules and a Battleground to play them on. Throughout the first three chapters you will learn the rules progressively, moving around the Battlefield, eliminating as many enemies as you can, playing your cards as wisely as you can. Compete with your sister warriors to see who should lead the team. Once you've mastered the basics, you can play Full Mode on any isolated Battlefield, venture into the Vanaheim campaign, chronicled in the last chapter, or create your own scenarios and campaigns. The modularity of the game makes it highly replayable. Quick games, long campaigns, rule combinations - everything is available to players in a simple and easy to configure way. Additional content will be added periodically to extend the hours of gameplay even further. —description from the publisher Tomad el papel de cuatro Valkirias que, cansadas de esperar a la última batalla, la del final de los tiempos, han decidido tomar la delantera y, apoyadas por Freya, lanzarse a la batalla para tratar de evitar el mismísimo Ragnarök. —description from the publisher (Spanish)

Questions and answers
Valkyries supports 2–4 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Valkyries is 20 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Valkyries for ages 10 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Valkyries has a complexity rating of 1.5 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
Valkyries belongs to these categories: Fantasy, Fighting, and Adventure. Its main mechanics are Variable Player Powers, Hand Management, and Variable Set-up. Categories describe the theme and setting of a game, while mechanics describe what players actually do on their turns. Each mechanic links to a catalogue hub with similar games, which helps when you want something comparable.
The credited designers of Valkyries are: Paz Navarro Moreno and César Gómez Bernardino. These credits come from the published game data and name the people responsible for the game’s design, not its illustrators or publishers. Designer pages on MeepleRules collect other titles by the same designers, which helps when you enjoy a game and want to find similar ones.
The catalogue lists Valkyries as a base game. It can be played on its own with the components in the box and does not require any other title. Expansions, if any exist, add new content or rules on top of it and are listed separately in the catalogue with a link back to this base game.
