Warhamster Rally is a board game released in 2001 for 3–5 players, 45 minutes per game, and ages 8 and up. It was designed by Frank Branham and its main mechanics are Variable Player Powers, Action Points, and Action Queue.
To be the produced version of Aquarium Derby. The board is covered with hexes containing arrows. A player plays the movement card lying facedown in front of themselves then chooses a new one for NEXT turn. Each movement card describes movement relative to the arrow on your current space. The biggest problem is that you are frequently not on the space you were on when you played that movement card The cool part are the action points which can be used over the course of the game a la Trip Tickets in Wildlife Adventure to save yourself and hose everyone else in further ways. It also adds a touch of a puzzle element as there are usually a couple of ways to save yourself from a bad situation. From the box: WARHAMSTER RALLY™ is the crazy racing game based on the award-winning DORK TOWER™ comic strips by John Kovalic. Players take on the rols of Dork Tower characters and compete for the ultimate prize in thoroughbred racing: THE WARHAMSTER CUP! What, you thought this involved horses? In WARHAMSTER RALLY, 3 to 5 players run amok, trying desperately to control their wild Warhamsters on the racetrack, dodging deadly Battle Budgies, Juggling Jongleurs, the numerous Kobold Kin, and the most ferocious monsters of all... the other players! from the rules: Basic Idea of the game: Players are racing big, giant, killer Warhamsters around an open field racetrack marked by a pair of Battle Budgies. Warhamster Rally supports 3–5 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Warhamster Rally is 45 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Warhamster Rally for ages 8 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Warhamster Rally has a complexity rating of 1.8 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
