Aniversus is a board game released in 2024 for 2 players, 40–65 minutes per game, and ages 10 and up. It was designed by Leo WK Cheung, Bochi, and Andr Wynn and its main mechanics are Dice Rolling, Deck Construction, and Multi-Use Cards.
In the universe of Aniversus, players become coaches of animal teams representing their civilizations. Due to limited resources, they rely on the Animania League, similar to human football league, to resolve conflicts. These matches happen in space stadiums where animals with special abilities compete for victory. To succeed, coaches must make smart choices and use strategies tailored to their animals. You're the coach of your very own team in Aniversus (Cats vs Squirrels). It's a big deal – you call the shots, come up with sneaky game plans, and help your animal buddies level up, get energy, and show what they're really made of. During each turn, a maximum of 3 card-playing actions can be performed. You must draw and play cards to make strategic moves, enabling your team to generate greater productivity, gain powers, and use skills to interrupt the opponents. The team who accumulates 10 powers on their field first can attempt a shoot by rolling a die. Victory in the game is achieved when each team successfully scores twice. Here's what you'll get up to in Aniversus: 1. Use your resources smart so your team can come out swinging when it's game time. 2. Dive into battles that make you think ahead, switch things up on the fly, and use your animals' special moves in smart ways. 3. Watch your crew get tougher, smarter, and cooler as they win more and get ready for the big leagues. In Aniversus, every game is your chance to outsmart the other coaches. Can you climb to the top and make your team the legends of the Space Arena? It's all in your hands. — description from the creators of Aniversus
Aniversus supports 2 players according to the catalogue. This is the publisher’s listed player count, so the game is designed for exactly that number of participants. Variants for other group sizes, if any, are described in the rulebook of your edition, so check it before setting up a different configuration.
The listed playing time for Aniversus is 40–65 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Aniversus for ages 10 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Aniversus belongs to these categories: Card Game and Animals. Its main mechanics are Dice Rolling, Deck Construction, and Multi-Use Cards. Categories describe the theme and setting of a game, while mechanics describe what players actually do on their turns. Each mechanic links to a catalogue hub with similar games, which helps when you want something comparable.
