Assault on the Castle is a board game released in 2018 for 2–5 players, 15–30 minutes per game, and ages 6 and up. It was designed by Giovanni Spadaro and Roberta Marchetta and its main mechanics are Player Elimination, Roll / Spin and Move, and Stacking and Balancing.
In Assault the Castle, players are fierce medieval Lords who want to destroy opponents’ castles by using fearsome siege machines. At the beginning of the game, players, by using cards, physically build their own castles upon a special basement mat. With regards to the building phase, there actually are no limits, as long as the castles can stand properly. During the game, players turn-by-turn draw siege cards that activate siege machines. In such cases, players will throw cards against their opponents castles, to make them fall. The last standing castle wins the game! —description from the publisher
Assault on the Castle supports 2–5 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Assault on the Castle is 15–30 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Assault on the Castle for ages 6 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
