Asteroid Dice is a board game released in 2024 for 2–5 players, 15–35 minutes per game, and ages 8 and up. Its main mechanics are Take That, Dice Rolling, and Matching.
The first of its kind - a squishy dice throwing and rolling strategy party game! Asteroid Dice came about from a love of dice and dodgeball! A dicey combination? We don’t think so. Simply throw and collide your squishy foam dice to roll the highest score each round and win all the cards in the asteroid field. You must choose a dice from the middle of the table, but if you pick the same as someone else, then battle it out dodge-ball style to see who gets to keep that dice and who loses their card! Place all the giant squishy dice in the center of the table and take your deck of cards. Secretly choose which dice card you want to play, and on the count of 3 reveal it to the other players. Grab the dice you chose and prepare to roll them! If anyone matches their cards, you brawl with the chosen dice. The last player hit will gain their opponent’s cards and the losers have to choose from the leftover dice. Now everyone rolls their dice in turn - starting with the D20 and down to the D6 with the highest number winning. But watch out for the special cards! Losteroid cards are blackholes that will suck all the cards away in the round and reduce your score if you end up with one in your score pile. Play your "I Can’t Diecide" card if you’re not sure which dice to choose or as part of your dice game strategy. The player with the most points, wins.
Asteroid Dice supports 2–5 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Asteroid Dice is 15–35 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Asteroid Dice for ages 8 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Asteroid Dice has a complexity rating of 1.5 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
Asteroid Dice belongs to these categories: Card Game, Party Game, and Dice. Its main mechanics are Take That, Dice Rolling, and Matching. Categories describe the theme and setting of a game, while mechanics describe what players actually do on their turns. Each mechanic links to a catalogue hub with similar games, which helps when you want something comparable.
The catalogue lists Asteroid Dice as a base game. It can be played on its own with the components in the box and does not require any other title. Expansions, if any exist, add new content or rules on top of it and are listed separately in the catalogue with a link back to this base game.
