Awkward Guests: Companion App is an expansion for Awkward Guests: The Walton Case released in 2018 for 1–8 players, 45–75 minutes per game, and ages 12 and up.
The Awkward Guests companion app has several more cases in addition to the cases included with the game. The companion app allows players to enter their solution to the case into the app and find out if they are right or wrong. If one or more players have guessed the correct solution to the case, they win the game. If a player is incorrect, they cannot guess a solution on their next turn but can continue to play the game - the solution is not revealed. When playing without the app, players must examine the solution in the rulebook to determine if they are right or wrong, and players who guess the wrong solution are eliminated from the game. The app is required when playing the game Solo.
Awkward Guests: Companion App supports 1–8 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Awkward Guests: Companion App is 45–75 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Awkward Guests: Companion App for ages 12 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
