Beez: Fly, Butterfly! is an expansion for Beez released in 2020 for 2–4 players, 30–45 minutes per game, and ages 8 and up. It was designed by Dan Halstad and its main mechanics are Grid Movement, Modular Board, and Pattern Building.
A magnificent butterfly has landed gracefully in the garden. Quick! Catch up with it before it flutters away to another flower! You'll be handsomely rewarded if you do! With the Fly, Butterfly mini-expansion, players will add butterfly tiles to replace leaf tiles from the base game and place the butterfly on one of these new butterfly tiles to start the game. Whenever a player's bee lands on a tile adjacent to the butterfly, the player will get an option to move a stored nectar to a different empty chamber without the normal restrictions. Then that player gets to move the butterfly to a different butterfly tile.
Beez: Fly, Butterfly! supports 2–4 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Beez: Fly, Butterfly! is 30–45 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Beez: Fly, Butterfly! for ages 8 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
