Bomb5 is a board game released in 2026 for 2–5 players, 10–20 minutes per game, and ages 7 and up. It was designed by Fabrice Puleo and its main mechanics are Take That and Tile Placement.
What’s more satisfying than triggering a fun chain reaction to outsmart your opponents? Bomb5 is a clever and super accessible tile-laying game where you place numbered tiles and combine them to make a total of 5. Do that five times(you guessed it) and you win! Turns are quick and full of surprises, as explosive tiles can turn the play area upside down when you least expect it. Each player starts with a hand of three numbered tiles (going from 1–4). On their turn, players place a tile orthogonally adjacent to another on the play area. If the sum of connected number tiles equals 5, a chain reaction is triggered: you place one of your cup tiles on one end of the line and flip the tile at the other end —whether it's a cup... or a bomb. Be the first to place 5 face-up cups to win! Bomb tiles add a twist, with effects ranging from flipping a specific tile to disrupting entire rows or columns. With simple rules and a dynamic gameplay loop, Bomb5 strikes a fun balance between strategy and surprise. —description from the publisher
Bomb5 supports 2–5 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Bomb5 is 10–20 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Bomb5 for ages 7 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Bomb5 has a complexity rating of 1.0 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
