Call of Katulhu is a board game released in 2021 for 2 players, 15–30 minutes per game, and ages 10 and up. It was designed by Jonathan S Anctil and its main mechanics are Set Collection, Matching, and Simultaneous Action Selection.
A head to head 2 player game to attract the most cats to play with you by utilizing your cat toys the most effectively. Players will have a selection of various cats each round to battle over with matching hands of 6 classic cat toys. Each unique cat requires certain toys in a specific order for them to be attracted to play. But be aware that your opponent can thwart your plans to attract cats by removing your toys before you get to use them. Do you go all out trying to attract higher point scoring cats or do you go for a cheaper one allowing you to play defense? Winning this game depends on how well you can read your opponent and recognize patterns that will be constantly changing. Think Rock-Paper-Scissors meets Chess. —description from the designer
Call of Katulhu supports 2 players according to the catalogue. This is the publisher’s listed player count, so the game is designed for exactly that number of participants. The listed playing time for Call of Katulhu is 15–30 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Call of Katulhu for ages 10 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
