Emerald Echoes is a board game released in 2026 for 1–99 players, 240 minutes per game, and ages 14 and up. It was designed by Rita Orlov and Chelsea Stark and its main mechanics are Storytelling, Cooperative Game, and Solo / Solitaire Game.
Emerald Echoes is a narrative puzzle adventure featuring beautifully-illustrated puzzles and tactile artifacts. Through the eyes of a historical researcher, players uncover the story of a legendary alchemist and her companions. Told over four chapters, Emerald Echoes is a standalone sequel to The Emerald Flame. Within each chapter, there is a collection of unlabeled items, along with a series of green puzzle folders labeled numerically in the order they should be solved (1.1, 1.2, 1.3, and so on). There are thirteen puzzle folders in total. There are also some blue folders that do not contain any puzzles but should be opened as part of the same numerical sequence to reveal more pieces of the story. Each green folder contains at least one written document to investigate — this should be used as a jumping off point as you piece together which items are needed to solve the puzzle. Within each puzzle folder is also a pocket with a card labeled “Analysis,” featuring incremental hints, as well as the solution, for each puzzle. —description from the designer
Emerald Echoes supports 1–99 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Emerald Echoes is 240 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Emerald Echoes for ages 14 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Emerald Echoes has a complexity rating of 2.7 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a medium-light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
