Expedition Sumatra: Dadu Dadu is a board game released in 2011 for 2–4 players, 20 minutes per game, and ages 8 and up. It was designed by Britta Stöckmann and Jens Jahnke and its main mechanics are Set Collection, Dice Rolling, and Paper-and-Pencil.
In Expedition Sumatra: Dadu Dadu, a dice game thematically based on Expedition Sumatra, several expeditions are being dispatched into the depth of a fantastic jungle world. The players roll their dice as long as it is possible to carry out at least one of four actions. Except from storing dice in the dock, the players can move through the jungle or cross the sea, discover rare animals, or explore different sites. After a certain number of rounds, the most successful expedition leader wins by scoring the highest amount of points. The game offers five scenarios differing somewhat in complexity, each with a different set of exotic animals and another habitat, different sites and slightly modified rules. The game will be released at Essen 2011 with a print run of about 200 copies.
Expedition Sumatra: Dadu Dadu supports 2–4 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Expedition Sumatra: Dadu Dadu is 20 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Expedition Sumatra: Dadu Dadu for ages 8 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Expedition Sumatra: Dadu Dadu has a complexity rating of 2.0 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a medium-light game.
