Faux Raccords is a board game released in 2023 for 2–4 players, 20–30 minutes per game, and ages 8 and up. It was designed by Julien Griffon, Xavier Violeau, Ruddy Ardouin, and Alban Alnot and its main mechanics are Hand Management and Cooperative Game.
In Faux Raccords, players try to cooperate editing a movie without being able to communicate. Several modes of play are available, in which you will edit a Feature Film, Two Short Films, a Series, a Multi-Arcs Movie or found your own Production Company. On your turn, you will play a card from your hand in one of three different ways: placing a card face down in the Film placing a card face up in the Cut in order to use its power discarding a card in order to peek at a face down card in the Film. Then you draw a new card and add it to your hand. The game ends either when a player has no card to play on their turn, or when a player decides the movie is ready. The winning condition depends on the mode. For example, for the Feature Film, players need to obtain a row of 16 cards in ascending order.
Faux Raccords supports 2–4 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Faux Raccords is 20–30 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Faux Raccords for ages 8 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Faux Raccords has a complexity rating of 2.0 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a medium-light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
