Floral is a board game released in 2024 for 1–5 players, 15–25 minutes per game, and ages 8 and up. It was designed by James Newman (I) and its main mechanics are Area Majority / Influence, Layering, and Solo / Solitaire Game.
Let your flowers grow and flourish. But keep in mind that nature is always changing along with your garden. Try to fulfill the most tasks by skillfully planting the cards in your garden. Do you have the greenest thumb? Floral is won by the player who scores the most points through fulfilling tasks. In the game, you will have a hand of 3 cards to perform the following actions on your turn: First, you will expand your garden by one card, ensuring that at least 2 flower beds are covered. Secondly, you can fulfill a task from the center of the table to score points. For the 3rd action, you add a card from your hand to the central pool of tasks. Finally, for the 4th action, you draw 2 cards. The game will end when the last card has been drawn from the draw pile. —description from the publisher
Floral supports 1–5 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Floral is 15–25 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Floral for ages 8 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Floral has a complexity rating of 1.3 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
