FReNeTiC is a board game released in 2018 for 2–12 players, 20 minutes per game, and ages 8 and up. It was designed by Graeme Fraser-Bell and its main mechanics are Tile Placement.
FReNeTiC is a fast and furious word game of the elements. Players race against the clock with just 45 seconds to form as many words as possible using the element symbol tiles, adding together the Atomic numbers of each tile used to create a word. For example Ba na na = banana = 78 points! Amazingly there are over 10,000 words that can be created using combinations of the element symbol tiles from the frenetic periodic table game board. Fun, frantic, action is guaranteed. The first player to score 1,000 points wins! Suitable for 2 or more players from 8+, frenetic offers wide appeal with everyone playing all the time and combines skill, strategy as well as an element of luck at a frenzied pace. Quick setup with easy to follow how-to-play booklet will have you enjoying frenetic with family and friends instantly, with the frenzied game play lasting anything from just 15 - 45 minutes. Beware how addictive it becomes! No need to be worried you don't have to be techies or a genius to play and win. —description from the publisher
FReNeTiC supports 2–12 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for FReNeTiC is 20 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists FReNeTiC for ages 8 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
FReNeTiC has a complexity rating of 1.3 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
