Gun and Gun is a board game released in 2019 for 2 players, 10–30 minutes per game, and ages 12 and up. Its main mechanics are Variable Player Powers, Hand Management, and Interrupts.
Gun and Gun is an anime-themed card game from Japanese design studio Keepdry that features competitive one-versus-one battles, a distinct two-deck draft system, and gorgeous Japanese sci-fi art! In Gun and Gun, players assume the role of one of the game's many Gunners and equip their character with two guns available to them. Once selections have been made, it’s a frenetic race to kill each other by reducing either their opponent’s life points or their deck size to zero. A single copy of Gun and Gun is enough for two players to get right into the gun-wielding action; however, some may wish to use more than one set. Playing with one copy provides a more traditional board game experience with a surprising amount of strategy involved in choosing characters and guns. Playing with two sets, however, ups the intensity and overall competitive nature of the game, allowing for an experience that is closer to that of a constructed card game, where players construct their own decks. Either playstyle is a blast, but we would recommend playing with one set first in order to get used to the gameplay and to learn about the strengths and limitations of each character and gun, before moving into the more competitive side of the game. -description from publisher
Gun and Gun supports 2 players according to the catalogue. This is the publisher’s listed player count, so the game is designed for exactly that number of participants. The listed playing time for Gun and Gun is 10–30 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Gun and Gun for ages 12 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Gun and Gun has a complexity rating of 2.0 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a medium-light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
