Hámster Gángster is a board game released in 2023 for 2–4 players, 10–15 minutes per game, and ages 8 and up. It was designed by Carlos Daunés and its main mechanics are Push Your Luck.
In Hamster Gangster, you'll need to collect a stash of hidden nuts among the forest leaves and keep them safe in the security of your burrow. Use your gang members, avoid the patrol-cat Erwyn, and become the most famous hamster in the forest During your turn, take forest nut cards and keep them in your cheeks. Each fruit has a value. Hamster cheeks have a limit (13 in this case) and they are also very efficient, so you must get fruits that add up to exactly 13. If you go too far, you will lose what you have achieved. But if you manage to do it, you can put it safely in your burrow. Whoever has the most points at the end of the game wins. The game can end in two ways: Patrolman Erwyn comes out for the third time or after finishing your turn there are 5 or fewer cards left on the table. Use the effects of your gang members to achieve the objectives. With 5 game modes that make a game fast, versatile and for the whole family. —description from the designer En Hámster Gángster deberás recolectar un botín de frutos secos escondidos entre las hojas del bosque y ponerlo a buen recaudo en la seguridad de tu madriguera. —description from the designer (Espanol)
Hámster Gángster supports 2–4 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Hámster Gángster is 10–15 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Hámster Gángster for ages 8 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Hámster Gángster has a complexity rating of 1.3 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
