Hanabi: Master Artisan Expansion is an expansion for Hanabi released in 2015 for 2–5 players, 30 minutes per game, and ages 8 and up. It was designed by Antoine Bauza and its main mechanics are Hand Management, Set Collection, and Memory.
Hanabi: Die Bonus-Plättchen, also known as Hanabi: Master Artisan Expansion, adds six bonus tokens to the Hanabi card game. The deluxe version of the expansion adds six bonus tiles to the Hanabi Deluxe base game. Hanabi Deluxe II already contains the 6 tiles of the Master Artisan Expansion. Shuffle these tokens face down, then place them near the clue tokens. Instead of flipping a clue token when correctly playing the fifth card of a color, flip a bonus token instead and carry out the special action. The action must be carried out immediately. These actions allow the fireworks master (i.e., the oldest player in the game per the ABACUSSPIELE rules) to: Flip a clue token already used (as in the base game) [×2]. Choose a card from the discard pile and shuffle it back into the draw pile [×2]. Choose another player and tell her the color AND value of a card in her hand (does not require use of a clue token). Flip up to two unused thunderstorm/fuse tokens to flip an equal number of used clue tokens.
Hanabi: Master Artisan Expansion supports 2–5 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Hanabi: Master Artisan Expansion is 30 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Hanabi: Master Artisan Expansion for ages 8 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Hanabi: Master Artisan Expansion has a complexity rating of 2.7 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a medium-light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
Hanabi: Master Artisan Expansion belongs to these categories: Card Game, Deduction, and Memory. Its main mechanics are Hand Management, Set Collection, and Memory. Categories describe the theme and setting of a game, while mechanics describe what players actually do on their turns. The catalogue lists Hanabi: Master Artisan Expansion as an expansion for Hanabi.
