Here to Slay: Sorcerers & Squires is an expansion for Here to Slay released in 2027 for 2–6 players, 30–60 minutes per game, and ages 10 and up. Its main mechanics are Variable Player Powers, Hand Management, and Take That.
Sorcerers were first introduced in the original Here to Slay Kickstarter campaign as an exclusive. As we’ve shifted away from gameplay locked behind exclusives, we decided a while ago that we wanted to incorporate Sorcerers in a new expansion. The Sorcerer cards in this expansion will be familiar to anyone who owns the original exclusive set, but each comes with newly designed artwork. Squires are the bigger news - this is the first new class we’ve added to the game since 2022, so this is a big deal for us? Squires act as support Heroes, and the class works a little differently than the others because their Hero effects don’t require a dice roll. These resourceful crows will always look out for you if you take care of them! Within this expansion, we also included a few extras to pair with the Here to Slay Banner Quest Expansion. Since that one was released before Sorcerers & Squires, we added Banners for each of these two classes in this expansion, along with the tokens you’ll need to pair this expansion with Banner Quest.
Here to Slay: Sorcerers & Squires supports 2–6 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Here to Slay: Sorcerers & Squires is 30–60 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Here to Slay: Sorcerers & Squires for ages 10 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Here to Slay: Sorcerers & Squires has a complexity rating of 2.0 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a medium-light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
