About the game
You are a tour guide responsible for a group of 4 tourists that have travelled to the mysterious sites of Rocky Valley. Unfortunately, a landslide has forbidden your return home and you will have to stay for a few days. The only inn in town is the infamous Hostil Hostal, known for its intriguing past and deteriorating interior. Your guests desperately need their rest but it will be hard to come by as you not only need to deal with the dangers of the hostel itself but also the insensitivity of the other guests. Hostil Hostal is a strategic, entry level, family game. Players take turns placing guests in the beds of the different rooms of the inn. Each room brings different levels of comfort that will change according to its occupancy and deteriorating condition. Additionally, each guest’s rest will be affected by different events played in secret by each player. In the end, the player whose guests got the best sleep will be the winner. -description from publisher

Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Hostil Hostal is 20–40 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Hostil Hostal for ages 12 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Hostil Hostal has a complexity rating of 2.0 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a medium-light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
