Jenga: Super Mario is a board game released in 2020 for 2–4 players and ages 8 and up. It was designed by Joe Bradford and its main mechanics are Roll / Spin and Move, Stacking and Balancing, and Physical Removal.
A Nintendo-licensed, Super Mario-themed version of Hasbro's popular block-stacking dexterity game Jenga, with some added twists. Players choose to play as Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, or Toad, taking a character peg with that character on and slotting it into blocks near the base of the tower. Each turn, a player uses the spinner to determine how many layers up the tower their character peg can climb, and how many blocks they have to remove from the tower and stack on top of it. Blocks are marked with symbols that may cause players to gain or lose coins. Coins can also be gained from climbing the tower or defeating Bowser, who begins at the top of the tower and has to be beaten by climbing past him. The game ends when someone collapses the tower, at which point the player with the most coins wins.
Jenga: Super Mario supports 2–4 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The catalogue lists Jenga: Super Mario for ages 8 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Jenga: Super Mario has a complexity rating of 1.3 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
