Judge Dredd: Block War is a board game released in 2018 for 2 players, 15 minutes per game, and ages 12 and up. It was designed by Herb Ferman and its main mechanics are Hand Management.
BLOCK WAR is a 2-player card game based on one of the greatest story arcs in Judge Dredd™ history. Players act as ‘Perps’ in their respective Blocks, when Block War breaks out. Blast the enemy, reinforce your gangs, or just drop a Boing™ on the Justice Department who is trying to stop you. Each player controls 5 windows on their side of the street. Place your gangs and open your windows to attack and close them to defend yourself. Down on “The Street” the Justice Department has responded to the disturbance and have joined the battle. Not only are you attacking your opponent, you are attacking the Justice Department that is sworn to stop you. Strategically open/close your windows to defend yourself from the never ending onslaught that is facing you. But Watch Out! They’ve called in a Manta Tank! One shot destroys your window, and if you’re really unlucky, you’ll face Judge Dredd Himself. The Judge Dredd: Block War cardgame was specifically designed to be as brutal a game to play as it is to exist in Mega-City One.
Judge Dredd: Block War supports 2 players according to the catalogue. This is the publisher’s listed player count, so the game is designed for exactly that number of participants. Variants for other group sizes, if any, are described in the rulebook of your edition, so check it before setting up a different configuration.
The listed playing time for Judge Dredd: Block War is 15 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Judge Dredd: Block War for ages 12 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Judge Dredd: Block War has a complexity rating of 2.0 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a medium-light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
