KeyForge Adventures: The Great Hunt is an expansion for KeyForge: Age of Ascension released in 2024 for 1–3 players, 45–90 minutes per game, and ages 14 and up. It was designed by Richard Garfield and its main mechanics are Hand Management, Cooperative Game, and Solo / Solitaire Game.
Word has spread throughout Skyrealm that the Pale Baron of Aileron will once again host a Great Hunt, and to the winner will go all spoils. Will you and your intrepid crew risk your ship and lives for fame, glory, and Æmber? You and your fellow Archons are about to embark on a dangerous adventure in the skies high above the Crucible. Taking command of a small skyship, you must hunt the legendary and elusive Skybeasts. Only the boldest, and perhaps reckless, skyship crews can hope to earn the greatest prize of the annual Great Hunt: the patronage of the Pale Baron. In The Great Hunt, players work together to use their skyship, Nantucket, to hunt powerful Skybeasts in the Crucible’s upper stratosphere (known as the Skyrealm). Each time the players defeat a Skybeast with Nantucket, they score a certain amount of renown. The players must also deal with aggressive Stormkin pirates who will persistently attempt to steal their Æmber. Players do not directly win by forging keys, but each time they forge a key, they earn an upgrade of their choice for Nantucket, which will make it easier for them to earn renown.
KeyForge Adventures: The Great Hunt supports 1–3 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for KeyForge Adventures: The Great Hunt is 45–90 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists KeyForge Adventures: The Great Hunt for ages 14 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
KeyForge Adventures: The Great Hunt belongs to these categories: Card Game, Fantasy, and Fighting. Its main mechanics are Hand Management, Cooperative Game, and Solo / Solitaire Game. Categories describe the theme and setting of a game, while mechanics describe what players actually do on their turns.
