Loup Garou is a board game released in 2015 for 1 player, 30–130 minutes per game, and ages 10 and up. It was designed by MOON (Maud Michel).
Your master, the mage Theodocred, charges you with finding a three-horned slug. Arming yourself with courage, you go into the night, but as soon as you enter the forest a creature comes up and claws you. Now a werewolf, will you survive your first transformation, werewolf hunters, and other unforeseen dangers? Choose your specialty, thief, wizard or barbarian, choose the right paths, and find an effective weapon! The choices are yours in this game book! Loup Garou is a comic combined with a game, one title in a series subtitled "The comic in which you are the hero". You embody a character in a immersive story in which your choices guide your progress. You have a character sheet akin to those used in role-playing games that tracks your possessions, your your coins, and your victory points. In general, gameplay consists in following the comic's panels — which contain clues, riddles and traps — and making choices about where to go and what to do, while using your visual perception to collect clues and be smart enough to resolve the riddles. As in any game, you can lose — sometimes really badly! —description from the publisher
Loup Garou supports 1 player according to the catalogue. This is the publisher’s listed player count, so the game is designed for exactly that number of participants. Variants for other group sizes, if any, are described in the rulebook of your edition, so check it before setting up a different configuration.
The listed playing time for Loup Garou is 30–130 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Loup Garou for ages 10 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Loup Garou has a complexity rating of 1.4 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
Loup Garou belongs to these categories: Comic Book / Strip and Book. Categories describe the theme, setting and style of a game rather than its rules. Filter the catalogue by the same category to find similar games when you enjoyed Loup Garou and want something comparable for your next game night.
The credited designers of Loup Garou are: MOON (Maud Michel). These credits come from the published game data and name the people responsible for the game’s design, not its illustrators or publishers. The catalogue lists Loup Garou as a base game. It can be played on its own with the components in the box and does not require any other title. Expansions, if any exist, add new content or rules on top of it and are listed separately in the catalogue with a link back to this base game.
