Maha Yodha is a board game released in 2014 for 2 players, 20 minutes per game, and ages 12 and up. It was designed by Saar Shai, Sagar Shankar, and Chandan Mohanty and its main mechanics are Hand Management.
Maha Yodha is a two-player strategy card game set in the ancient and mystical world of Indian mythology. By unlocking ancient Indian stories and unleashing the warriors of yore, Leprechaun Games has created a strategic card game with an unique theme that is both brand new and several millennia old. Maha Yodha consists of two decks, each of which represents a faction; each faction consists of a unique army of warriors, weapons and scrolls. You will go head-to-head with your opponent, spending valor to dispatch warriors to the front-line to not only deal damage but also defend your life. As in the ancient myths, each warrior has a chosen weapon, which when paired together award bonus powers. Divine scrolls, inspired by interesting characters and stories from the Hindu myths, award you with powerful bonus skills, extra valor, and deadly force to help you take down your opponent. Maha Yodha features exquisite traditional Indian artwork, or Pattachitra, as well as specially commissioned illustrations of celebrated warriors and weapons in a visceral modern style.
Maha Yodha supports 2 players according to the catalogue. This is the publisher’s listed player count, so the game is designed for exactly that number of participants. Variants for other group sizes, if any, are described in the rulebook of your edition, so check it before setting up a different configuration.
The listed playing time for Maha Yodha is 20 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Maha Yodha for ages 12 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Maha Yodha has a complexity rating of 2.1 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a medium-light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
