Mixtape Massacre is a board game released in 2016 for 2–6 players, 30–90 minutes per game, and ages 17 and up. It was designed by Freddie Carlini, Matt Corrado, and Merrijoy Vicente and its main mechanics are Player Elimination, Roll / Spin and Move, and Track Movement.
Mixtape Massacre is a tabletop board game where up to 6 people play as horror film archetypes and compete in a fictional 1986 killing spree to be remembered. Players travel the streets of Tall Oaks visiting different town locations, vying for a chance to draw a card from the "Killer Scenes, Dude" deck (cards decorated like VHS tapes of old), providing an opportunity to slay victims and collect souvenirs. Claim your prize by rolling the action dice marked in knives, fists, and pentagrams to the amount required on your card. Along the way, take your chances with the "Bonus Tracks" cards (decorated like your favorite dusty mixtape) or engage in Brawls, where players can battle it out and eliminate one another from the game. To win the game, be the first to rack up a body count of 10 or be the last player left alive. With tons of jokes and references to all of your favorite 1980's music, films, and pop-culture icons - Mixtape Massacre will have you laughing while you're slashing!
Mixtape Massacre supports 2–6 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Mixtape Massacre is 30–90 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Mixtape Massacre for ages 17 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Mixtape Massacre has a complexity rating of 1.7 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
