Monopoly: The Walking Dead – Survival Edition is a board game released in 2013 for 2–6 players and ages 13 and up. Its main mechanics are Player Elimination, Trading, and Auction / Bidding.
Monopoly: The Walking Dead - Survival Edition appears to have the same gameplay as Monopoly, but the tokens, cards, properties and other game elements have been themed in line with The Walking Dead comic series. In the game, a player rolls two dice on his turn and moves that number of spaces around the board. If the player lands on an as-yet-unowned property, he has the opportunity to buy it and add it to his portfolio or allow the bank to auction it to the highest bidder. If a player owns all the spaces within a color group, he may then build houses and hotels on these spaces, generating even more income from opponents who land there. If he lands on a property owned by another player, he must pay that player rent according to the value of the land and any buildings on it. There are other places on the board which can not be bought, but instead require the player to draw a card and perform the action on the card, pay taxes, collect income, or even go to jail.
Monopoly: The Walking Dead – Survival Edition supports 2–6 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The catalogue lists Monopoly: The Walking Dead – Survival Edition for ages 13 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Monopoly: The Walking Dead – Survival Edition has a complexity rating of 1.0 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
