Petal Plotters is a board game released in 2024 for 2–5 players, 10–20 minutes per game, and ages 14 and up. It was designed by Evan Cheah and its main mechanics are Hand Management, Deduction, and Hidden Roles.
The garden of Tropika is under attack and requires every animal to choose which side of the plot they will play for! Use your petal powers to either defend or attack, and tilt each battle of this war to your favour. Game Objective: Be the best petal plotter by achieving an animal's victory condition that is determined by the last card they hold at game end. Game Play: From a hand of cards, players either uses an Animal Ability or adds and Animal into their Garrison. A game ends when all players have no more cards in hand. All cards in everyone's Garrisons are revealed then all the Petal Powers on all cards are totaled up together. The player who achieved the Victory Condition on the last card they held wins the game. Play a total of 3 games and assign Victory Points (VPs) to winning players based on which Victory Condition they achieved. After the 3rd game, the player with the highest VPs wins!
Petal Plotters supports 2–5 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Petal Plotters is 10–20 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Petal Plotters for ages 14 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Petal Plotters has a complexity rating of 2.0 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a medium-light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
