Pints of Blood is a board game released in 2014 for 2–4 players, 45 minutes per game, and ages 14 and up. It was designed by Kinjiro and its main mechanics are Semi-Cooperative Game.
Some old habits die hard. As the city is unexpectedly hit by disaster, and its inhabitants are slowly turning into hordes of hungry undead, an ever-growing assembly of zombies is beginning to queue outside a little corner pub. Inside a small group of patrons suddenly becomes aware that the evening is going to be more than just beer and snacks, and they're forced to take up whatever arms are within reach to avoid the fate of ending up as someone else's snack. In Pints of Blood, you must keep the zombies from entering the pub, and they're outside ready to move forward whenever they see any sign of life at the windows or door – or if they're pushed from behind by the ever-increasing number of zombies that are being brought in by the still running public transport. But no need to despair as help is on its way! Rally with your fellow survivors and hold out until the rescue vehicle makes its appearance. Be aware, however, that it might not have room for everyone, so at some point you may have to decide whether to support your mates or to fight for yourself — but if all buddies die before help arrives, the zombies win.
Pints of Blood supports 2–4 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Pints of Blood is 45 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Pints of Blood for ages 14 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Pints of Blood has a complexity rating of 1.8 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
