Primal: The Awakening – Woltyar and Frozen Wastes is an expansion for Primal: The Awakening released in 2026 for 1–4 players, 60–90 minutes per game, and ages 14 and up. It was designed by Tommaso Mondadori and Alberto Parisi and its main mechanics are Variable Player Powers, Hand Management, and Variable Set-up.
Face the heat of volcanic slopes and the frost of the northern wastes. This expansion includes a double-sided neoprene playmat that represents two of Thyrea’s biomes, adding both visual variety and unique gameplay elements. The Woltyar biome causes the players to deal with rising temperatures, causing them to discard an increasing number of cards from the top of their deck as the battle wages on. You must also be careful while moving, as the rivers of lava can cause burning! The Frozen Wastes saps the players precision and focus. At various rounds all mastery cards are considered blank, and from round 8 on this becomes permanent. —description from the publisher
