Shit Happens: Shitty Ways to Die is a board game released in 2020 for 2–99 players and ages 18 and up. It was designed by Andy Breckman.
These cards are full of really bad situations, but you have to sort them according to the level of how bad the way of dying is. All players start the game with 3 cards laid out in front of them. The player to the right of the starting player reads out a card from the draw pile. The starting player must then decide where the card fits into their set of cards according to the misery rating. If they guess correctly, they add the card to their set. Answer incorrectly and the player to their left may try. Arrange 10 cards correctly to win the game.
Shit Happens: Shitty Ways to Die supports 2–99 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The catalogue lists Shit Happens: Shitty Ways to Die for ages 18 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
