Stranger Things: Attack of the Mind Flayer is a board game released in 2022 for 4–10 players, 20 minutes per game, and ages 10 and up. It was designed by Joey Vigour and its main mechanics are Hidden Roles.
In Hawkins, Indiana, the Mind Flayer has created an army of possessed people to invade Earth. Some of you are already under its control... At the start of Stranger Things: Attack of the Mind Flayer, each player takes a character tile representing someone from the Stranger Things Netflix series. You will also receive a card that tells you whether you are a Sane hero or Possessed by the Mind Flayer. A game plays out over a series of turns and pits two teams against each other: Sane versus Possessed. As a Sane character, you must resist the Mind Flayer's attacks to win the game. As a Possessed character, you try to convert all Sane characters to Possessed or knock them out before the end of the game. On your turn, draw a card and give it to another player to help them, remove them, or make them change teams. At the end of the game, if at least one Sane character is still in play, all Sane characters win the game. Otherwise, the Possessed characters win!
Stranger Things: Attack of the Mind Flayer supports 4–10 players according to the catalogue. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Stranger Things: Attack of the Mind Flayer is 20 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Stranger Things: Attack of the Mind Flayer for ages 10 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
