The Fairy Game is a board game released in 2016 for 2–4 players, 15 minutes per game, and ages 5 and up. It was designed by Marisa Peña and Shanon Lyon and its main mechanics are Set Collection and Cooperative Game.
The Fairy Game - A Matching Game of Flowers and Fairy Magic! Watch out Fairies! Mr. Winter is trying to freeze over the fairies' treasured flowers! In this game from the award-winning design team at Peaceable Kingdom, players work together to match fairy cards and gather the hidden magic gems before 4 snowflakes land on one flower. Work together to fill the fairies' magic wand and banish Mr. Winter from the garden! On a player's turn, they draw a card for their hand. If at any point they have 3 fairies of the same color they can move that color gem to the wand. Other cards allow for players to trade fairies or remove snowflakes. Also available to be drawn is the Mr. Winter card which requires the player to immediately add a snowflake to a flower. The players win if they move all four of the gems to the wand before Mr. Winter adds four snowflakes to any one flower.
The Fairy Game supports 2–4 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for The Fairy Game is 15 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists The Fairy Game for ages 5 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
The Fairy Game has a complexity rating of 1.0 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
