The Great Escape: Recon is an expansion for The Great Escape released in 2021 for 1 player. It was designed by John Grills and its main mechanics are Point to Point Movement, Tile Placement, and Pattern Building.
The Great Escape Recon is a mini solitaire card game played in 3 stages and an expansion for The Great Escape. Stage 1 At night you must escape the compound by making your way between huts avoiding any guards and searchlights. Reach the blind spot in the fence and, with a good pair of wire cutters, you should be able to make your escape. Stage 2 Pursued by guards you must make your way across various terrain and either head straight for the border and safety or spend some time gathering vital information that will aid your fellow campmates should you be captured. Stage 3 This stage combines the cards from The Great Escape with any knowledge of the surrounding area that you might have gained in Stage 2. Armed with this information the POWs from The Great Escape should now have a better chance of escaping. Good Luck!
The Great Escape: Recon supports 1 player according to the catalogue. This is the publisher’s listed player count, so the game is designed for exactly that number of participants. Variants for other group sizes, if any, are described in the rulebook of your edition, so check it before setting up a different configuration.
The Great Escape: Recon has a complexity rating of 2.0 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a medium-light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
The Great Escape: Recon belongs to these categories: Card Game, World War II, and Expansion for Base-game. Its main mechanics are Point to Point Movement, Tile Placement, and Pattern Building. Categories describe the theme and setting of a game, while mechanics describe what players actually do on their turns. Each mechanic links to a catalogue hub with similar games, which helps when you want something comparable.
The credited designers of The Great Escape: Recon are: John Grills. These credits come from the published game data and name the people responsible for the game’s design, not its illustrators or publishers. Designer pages on MeepleRules collect other titles by the same designers, which helps when you enjoy a game and want to find similar ones.
The catalogue lists The Great Escape: Recon as an expansion for The Great Escape. Expansions add new content, rules or scenarios to the base game and usually cannot be played on their own, so you need The Great Escape to use it. Check that your edition of The Great Escape is compatible, as some expansions were revised between editions.
