The Simpsons Board Game is a board game released in 2000 for 2–6 players, 45 minutes per game, and ages 6 and up. It was designed by Terry Miller Associates and its main mechanics are Roll / Spin and Move, Singing, and Acting.
The object of the game is to be the player (playing the role of one of the Simpsons characters) who, at the end of the game, has the most trash on the living room rug. The game is over when the rug is full. Players travel from their place on the couch around an inner board....but not for long! They will soon by diverted into one of the 6 sub games around the board. These games vary from singing karaoke in Moe's Tavern to answering questions in school, as well as a school trip, a visit to Quik-e-mart, a quick visit to the power plant, and if you are lucky a spell as mayor, where you get to control the movement of all the other players. Game play is very different each time you play.
The Simpsons Board Game supports 2–6 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for The Simpsons Board Game is 45 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists The Simpsons Board Game for ages 6 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
The Simpsons Board Game has a complexity rating of 1.2 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
