TradeWorlds: Adversity AI is an expansion for TradeWorlds: Exterra Edition released in 2018 for 1 player, 30–60 minutes per game, and ages 13 and up. It was designed by Joseph Pilkus and its main mechanics are Hand Management, Trading, and Dice Rolling.
This "expansion" features a solitaire, one (1) player experience which allows gamers to go head-to-head against the "Adversity AI" developed and designed by Joseph E. Pilkus III. This is an addition to the "core" game and it is recommended to play without the Planetary Expansion. This is because the AI difficulty has been designed around the "core" product. This is mainly because the Trade Agreements with Colonies will give the player a fairly large advantage with the Planetary Expansion. This expansion is comprised of a total of 18 cards for the one (1) player experience. It features a 12 card initial deck and an 6 card development deck which makes the solo experience harder as the game progresses. The solo player may choose which of the four (4) factions (Mega-Corporations) he wants to play.
TradeWorlds: Adversity AI supports 1 player according to the catalogue. This is the publisher’s listed player count, so the game is designed for exactly that number of participants. Variants for other group sizes, if any, are described in the rulebook of your edition, so check it before setting up a different configuration.
The listed playing time for TradeWorlds: Adversity AI is 30–60 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists TradeWorlds: Adversity AI for ages 13 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
TradeWorlds: Adversity AI belongs to these categories: Economic, Dice, and Science Fiction. Its main mechanics are Hand Management, Trading, and Dice Rolling. Categories describe the theme and setting of a game, while mechanics describe what players actually do on their turns. Each mechanic links to a catalogue hub with similar games, which helps when you want something comparable.
The credited designers of TradeWorlds: Adversity AI are: Joseph Pilkus. These credits come from the published game data and name the people responsible for the game’s design, not its illustrators or publishers. The catalogue lists TradeWorlds: Adversity AI as an expansion for TradeWorlds: Exterra Edition. Expansions add new content, rules or scenarios to the base game and usually cannot be played on their own, so you need TradeWorlds: Exterra Edition to use it. Check that your edition of TradeWorlds: Exterra Edition is compatible, as some expansions were revised between editions.
