TRICQ SHOT is a board game released in 2024 for 3–5 players, 20–60 minutes per game, and ages 10 and up. It was designed by T親方 (Master T) and its main mechanics are Trick-taking.
Each round in the billiards-themed trick-taking game TRICQ SHOT, you start with a hand of cards that feature both a letter and a rank: As are 1-5, Bs are 2-6, etc. Each player secretly "pockets" a card from their hand to indicate whether they're stripes or solids, then the round's lead player announces whether cards are better in ascending or descending order. In a trick, the lead player lays down a card, then the next player must follow with a card of the same letter or rank, if possible. As more cards are played, you can imagine balls ricocheting on the table, with the possibilities for which cards can be played increasing. The round ends when the 8-ball hits the table, then you score 1 point for the cards that match your pocket card and lose 1 point for other cards. When someone has at least 8 points, the game ends.
TRICQ SHOT supports 3–5 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for TRICQ SHOT is 20–60 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists TRICQ SHOT for ages 10 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
TRICQ SHOT has a complexity rating of 1.7 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
