Trivial Pursuit: Genus Editie is a board game released in 1984 for 2–36 players, 60 minutes per game, and ages 15 and up. Its main mechanics are Roll / Spin and Move.
An advanced Trivial Pursuit version published in Belgium and the Netherlands by Parker and Horn Abbot International. The game is pretty much the same as the standard Trivial Pursuit games, yet has a more diverse and advanced questions set. Every player starts with an empty play piece and has to fill up his piece with 6 different coloured parts by answering questions in the headquarters of 6 categories (geography, entertainment, history, art & literature, science & nature and sports & leisure). To get to the headquarters the players roll dice, advancing on a path and answering questions of the corresponding category. If the answer is correct, the player plays again. If not, the next player takes his/her turn. The first player to fill up on pieces has to return to the center of the board for a final test. If he/she succeeds, he/she wins the game.
Trivial Pursuit: Genus Editie supports 2–36 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Trivial Pursuit: Genus Editie is 60 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Trivial Pursuit: Genus Editie for ages 15 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Trivial Pursuit: Genus Editie has a complexity rating of 1.7 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
Trivial Pursuit: Genus Editie belongs to these categories: Party Game and Trivia. Its main mechanics are Roll / Spin and Move.
