Andoria Battlefields is a board game released in 2019 for 2–4 players, 15–60 minutes per game, and ages 10 and up. It was designed by Al Vice and Wisam El-Rachid and its main mechanics are Player Elimination, Dice Rolling, and Area Majority / Influence.
Andoria Battlefields is a fast paced, fantasy, area control, board game with card playing and dice rolling mechanisms. In Andoria Battlefields, players take control of both Heroes and Monsters and fight for control over their own, and their opponent’s, battlefields. A game lasts 20 to 60 minutes depending on the number of players. Every player turn is divided into two main phases: 1. Herophase 2. Monsterphase The active player plays both phases and then the player to their left becomes the active player. 1. The Herophase: The player recruits his Heroes and uses spells to conquer his battlefield, defeat the monsters controlled by the opposing player and seal the portals where they emerge. 2. The Monsterphase: The opposing player recruits and controls monsters on the active player’s battlefield. The opposing player tries to stop the active player by overrunning Andoria with these evil creatures. This abstract strategy allows the player to win the game in two different ways; either by defeating the forces of darkness and sealing the portals, or by overrunning his opponent’s battlefield with monsters. Achieving victory by controlling the battlefields will require both strategic and tactical skill. Players will need to recruit powerful units, such as warriors or dragons, and use their unique abilities. They can be strengthened by casting helpful spells and building protective barriers. Will your heroes have the strength to unite the kingdoms and close the portals? Or will you aid the monsters in their quest to plunge Andoria into darkness and silence its music forever?
Andoria Battlefields supports 2–4 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Andoria Battlefields is 15–60 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Andoria Battlefields for ages 10 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Andoria Battlefields has a complexity rating of 2.0 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a medium-light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
