Awaken the Ancients is a board game released in 2024 for 1 player, 10–30 minutes per game, and ages 8 and up. It was designed by Gregg Jewell and its main mechanics are Solo / Solitaire Game, Pattern Recognition, and Mancala.
A new threat stirs beyond the Grove, and the Ancients must be awakened once more. As Grovewarden, you tend the flow of Dreamseeds through the Grove, performing attuned awakening rituals to rouse each slumbering Ancient from the dream world. These rituals must be carried out with care, as balance within the Grove is fragile and its resources finite. Only through careful stewardship can the Ancients rise in time to defend the realm and restore harmony to the land. Awaken the Ancients is a solo-only, mancala-style strategy puzzle set in a living fantasy world. You play as the Grovewarden distributing Dreamseeds throughout the Grove to perform attuned awakening rituals on slumbering Ancients so they may rise to defend the realm. Included scenarios introduce new circumstances to the Awakening, adding components and rules that change how the base game is played. -description from designer

Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Awaken the Ancients for ages 8 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Awaken the Ancients has a complexity rating of 1.5 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a light game.
